A pedestrian crossing is a high-attention area. A driver slows down early when people are nearby or visibility is limited.
Near children, stops, yards and parked cars, expect sudden movement into the roadway.
Extra care is needed where a person can appear from behind an obstacle: a bus, parked car, kiosk, trees or a yard exit.
The goal is to notice risk before it turns into emergency braking.
